The authorities in Romania have thought badly to the practices that harm the consumer and after they promised that they will get rid of false discounts, now they are also walking on the concept of "booking" of retailers, but also at the famous "Price Fixing".Today, on April 5, 2021, there was a series of unexpected inspections at Samsung, Altex, Flanco and eMAG companies. The Competition Council thus investigated possible agreements and practices of pricing.

This is only the first stage of the investigation to discover a possible anti -competitive behavior. It must be said that the presumption of innocence exists, until the investigation is completed. The documents raised by the authorities will be in the analysis of the Competition Council in the coming weeks.

The key to the investigation is to discover a relationship between Samsung Electronics Romania SRL and its retail partners mentioned above. The investigation was initiated on the basis of the information received by the competition warnings platform.

What is Price Fixing/ Fixing Price?

Inspecţii surpriză la firmele eMAG, Samsung, Flanco şi Altex; Consiliul Concurenţei investighează posibile practici de fixare a preţurilor

The purpose of the investigation is to demonstrate if these companies are practiced by fixing the price. This is an anti -competitive practice, through which the economic agents shake hands and are understood to maintain the prices of products at a high artificial level.Understanding can be written, verbal or deduced from behavior.Prices can thus raise, descend or stabilize artificially. The laws in force say that each company must set their prices according to their own terms, without collaborating with the competitors.

Otherwise it is a conspiracy that controls the entire demand and supply system, and who is not part of the "cartel", ie another store for example may suffer.
