Probably the most anticipated normal year phone phone, Samsung Galaxy S10+ was presented a few weeks ago in London. The device brings that perforated room to the screen and fingerprint inserted under the display, but also a slightly changed design to Samsung Note 9. It is possible to have in front of perhaps the best phone of 2019. Let's see what conclusions we have reached and toWe start with the design.

Design Samsung Galaxy S10+ - refinement to Note 9

Samsung came up with a Galaxy Note 9 design for this Galaxy S10+, but more refined and rounded.Personally, I like Galaxy S10 more, given that Note 9 did not anoin my soul.I think this time Samsung managed to make a nice phone, although not original about previous generations.

In the front we have the 6.4-inch display and narrow edges. In the upper and bottom parts the edge is very small and almost invisible, while the edges was kept on the edges that descend a lot.Samsung calls this display one infinity-o.The appearance is one 19: 9 and the screen ratio is 88.9%.At the bottom of the screen is the area where you can touch your finger to unlock the phone by fingerprint.

The front camera is perforated in the right corner. It is a double room very well integrated into the screen and the hollow is elegant.

I had many question marks for this settlement and for this idea that instead of the notch it would be a lateral perforation. But in the daily use of the last week I got used to this design that no longer seems disturbing.Even when you watch a movie on Netflix or other streaming services, positioning is not as disturbing as the iPhone, for example, where the notch is already high by current standards. Also, a disturbing thing on the iPhone was that notch during the unopmised games very well.On the Galaxy S10+ that perforation is discreet.

In addition, on the standard display the wallpaper is made in such a way as to hide the hole.I chose some unofficial wallpapers that turn that hole into an advantage to put a funny background. All in all, design is one that I like more than the notch I have used in recent years.Personally I am not a fan of phones that have no notch or hole, but have a slider that activates when you open the selfie room. That mechanism seems to me problematic and at risk of breaking.

On the back, Samsung chose for the S10+ model including two premium variants, made of white or black ceramics.I tested the model with white, which is, in fact, a pearl white that discreetly changes its color depending on how the light falls on it.It does not attract as much fingerprints as the glass version, although they are also available.I really like the ceramic design, but I still remain the fan of the settlement found by Huawei for the triple room, in a square. The triple room on Samsung is located above the logo, is quite wide and seems to be stuck to the back of the phone. You get used to it, but, as in Note 9, it does not seem like an excellent design example.Obviously, the design is a subjective thing and everyone chooses to please.

Therefore, the design is a better one than in Note 9 from my point of view. It's different from Huawei Mate 20 Pro, but comparable.Huawei is more Flashy, while Samsung stays more elegant.Huawei is more millennial, while S10+ is in the business area. But let's move on to the technical analysis of the performances and start with the display.

A spectacular display with a room perforation

The screen has a 6.4 -inch size and a 3040 x 1440 pixel quad HD resolution, with a 522 pixel pixel density. It is made of a Corning Gorilla Glass 6 material.

At the level of pixels, things are properly, ie a top display and allows you to view the best resolutions. The brightness is very good and strong when needed. Also, in full sun, the screen manages to be very clear.

What surprised me at the Samsung Galaxy S10+ is the standard color scheme. So far Samsung had become accustomed to a very saturated display. You could see a display and realize from a mail it was Samsung. But that's why it's not.The standard color scheme is cold, mature, without playing too much with the exposure.Which made me like this phone.Again, a personal preference was for the screens not to be too saturated. But for those who want to take the color scheme back, in the settings menu there is the Vivid option.

Review Samsung Galaxy S10+. Un telefon de 10. Nimic mai complicat

At the bottom, you can set the standard Android bumper to disappear and use gestures. This gives you, theoretically, more space on the screen, but I did not adapt so well on it, but it is a successful implementation.Basically you make a swipe up to activate those virtual buttons.

Overall, it's one of the best screen on Android. And if you asked, iPhone fans, how they compare to that, I would say it has no comparison.I mean Samsung wins. But I will detail a little further.

A successful design, an exceptional display.Already two essential features for a flagship of 2019. Let's move on to the technical performances, because you probably expect it to be more quick.

Technical performances

The phone I tested has an Exynos 9820 processor. It is an alternative to Snapdragon 855, which is only available for the United States, Latin America and China. The RAM is 8 GB, and the storage capacity of 128 GB.There are also models that have 12 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, but they are even more expensive.

At such a phone you expect very good performance, and the Galaxy S10+ does not disappoint. You can't say anything bad about Galaxy S10+ in browsing or games.I had no problems in multitasking either.I think small optimization problems can occur in some applications, due to the size of the screen or the operating system, but there is nothing prominent.

I played the best performing games, I made browsing, I used Netflix, HBO Go, Amazon Prime, I tried to lock the phone, but I didn't succeed. It's the right thing. The experience is also improved by the artificial intelligence that monitors what applications you use and opens or closes them according to the time of day.For example, if the phone knows that you enter the mail and Facebook in the morning, prepare them according to the waking time and launched them in the background to move quickly. If you go to work and you do not check Facebook anymore, the phone automatically closes the application to save the battery, but also to improve the perfrommy.

Because I talked about the battery, the S10+ has a battery of 4,100 milliampes. It is great and the optimization on the phone seemed to me to be successful. In intense use it keeps you from morning to evening, and if you do not use it very much, but you have a mix of wifi, 4G, maps, location and social media, then you have a chance to have a functional phone for more than a half day.

The phone has fast charging and manages to reach 70% in 25 minutes, and full charge needs about 90 minutes with the original charger. It also has wireless charging, and the Powershare wireless option can charge other devices, such as phones, wireless headphones or smartwatch. The option must be activated from the fast menu available through a down swipe.

He didn't disappoint me at the level of performance, but I didn't expect it.But what are people looking for today on the phone? The room. And Samsung comes with the promise of five rooms, 3 on the back and two on the face.Let's see why I am able.

5 rooms. And probably the first video competitor to the iPhone

On the back we have 3 rooms, two 12 megapixels and one of 16 megapixels. Each one plays a different role - one is wide, one is tele, for zoom photos, and one is ultrawide, for pictures to catch more in the frame.

On the face we have two rooms, one of 10 megapixel wide, with f/1.9, and another 8 megapixels that have a depth sensor function, to create the rear blur effect when making selfies.

Last year, at S9 or Samsung Galaxy Note 9, I liked the rooms, but I had no words of praise for them. They seemed good, but no better than others on the market. This year Samsung managed to climb a level.

Review Samsung Galaxy S10+. Un telefon de 10. Nimic mai complicat

Ultrawide mode is very good if you want to catch more people in the frame or if you are in a closed space.I appreciated the frame in the crowds and the quality is good.At the level of the colors, the pictures are realistic and without unrealistic interventions of artificial intelligence.

What I liked about Samsung was the camera menu. For the blur we have 4 options - one standard, but also two that print a spin effect or zoom of the blurred background. There is also an option that makes the subject colored, while the background is totally black and white. And this latter option works properly and manages to outline the very interesting topic.

At the level of selfies, the camera is very regular and you can get your stream with blur effect. You can also change the level of correction brought by artificial intelligence.

Returning to the menu, Samsung wants to position himself well for the Instagram passionate generation and has added a function to take directly optimized pictures for Instagram Story, with all the options present.I tested it and it works well.

Also, for the video area, it manages to make clips more quality than the standard Instagram application. In addition, in the photo gallery menu, each picture has a barrel to Instagram, Feed or Story.

Samsung becomes serious when talking about the Instagram generation. If a few years ago I was talking about Facebook buttons or optimized phones for Facebook, now everything is optimized for Instagram.

In addition to Galaxy Note 9, Samsung added 10 new scenarios to identify the frame. As in Huawei, the camera knows what you have in front and makes adjustments. If you have a document, it makes you an automatic scan, if you have food, change the light settings, and if you have a portrait, you instantly change the settings you need.At the level of portrait optimized by Huawei artificial intelligence I found it more responsive, but for all the other functions the results are comparable.

Samsung Galaxy S10 +'s night mode is very good and comparable to iPhone and Huawei Mate 20 Pro.I can't compare it to Google Pixel, because I didn't test that phone.Artificial intelligence intervenes in the darkest scenarios and, as in Huawei, even if it does not bring realistic results from total darkness, it is a competitive advantage over other terminals.Overall it seemed to me that the night photography is very successful.

Video mode is also a serious iPhone competitor.Perhaps the only area where iPhone has been left to be left.Samsung shoots 4K at 60 FPS in Wide and 4K mode at 30 FPS in ultrawide and telephoto modes.

It has a software optimization option called Super Steady, which brings very good stabilization results, but blocks the quality only at Full HD.If you are not disturbed by that, you can go with your phone in your street and almost not feel.

I talked a lot about the camera, an essential element of any phone.Samsung has also made changes to the operating system, but also to the authentication mode. Now you have a fingerprint directly under the screen.

Operating system and fingerprint below screen

Samsung Galaxy S10+ has Android 9 Pie with the Samsung One Ui interface.Regarding this, there are elements that I like a lot, but also unpleasant elements. The fonts inside the standard applications I like more, the interface is cleaner, as in the fast menu area through Swipe. The applications on the main screen can be resized and I chose a 6 -row arrangement with 5 applications per row. Why?Because in the standard, the applications icons are very large.I don't like them too much and they would deserve more options.Obviously, you can enter the phone themes to change the design of the applications, but the fact that the standard looks too playful I do not like.

At the Security level, if you want to be sure that your data will not be accessed, Samsung has the Knox system and secure folders. These two allow you to encrypt data. Also, the authentication is done by fingerprint or the front camera.I chose to rely in full on the fingerprint below the screen, which works on the infrastations. This technology has a few advantages, for example, the fact that you do not have to press too much and identifies the fingerprint much better.

An additional point is that the phone comes with your personal Bixby assistant and finally you can change what the physical button does.I set him to open the mail if I press it once. You have to leave at least one option for the Bixby opening, so I chose that if I press the button twice to open the personal assistant.I can get used to it.Bixby also now has routines, which you can set according to the time of day. They can deny their applications or read news.

How fast is authentication?Well, the answer is that ... it depends. If you manage to set the fingerprint very well, including from strange positions of your finger, for example coming from side to screen, then it works well. The screen opens quickly. But you have to take great care of settings. If your fingerprint, regardless of your finger, is set as perpendicular to, then the phone will have difficulty recognizing it.

I happened to fix that.I set the fingerprint holding the phone normal, in my hand. But if I keep it on the desk, on a wireless charger from Samsung, then I can no longer instantly unlock it, because the angle at which my finger does not suit. The phone still has difficulty in the morning, when your hands are dry and very slippery.Even with water it does not always have an excellent relationship, but it works if you have wet hand or the display is wet.Just have to press louder. On the Internet it has already been shown that the fingerprint no longer works if that area is scratched or if you put a glass screen protection.

In this configuration it costs 4,800 lei.Expensive, but it is no longer a surprise for a flagship. The year 2019 came with folding phones of 2,000 euros, so 1,050 euros is an expected price.Let's see the pros or cons.

Pro points

Points against

In the end, what can we say?I am also a iPhone user, and if we were to make the comparison, after seeing Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S10+, the question remains, why would you like an iPhone? At the moment, the diversity of options present on Android makes the iPhone pale.

The choice of iOS is good, but it remains one made only for the ecosystem. As for the differences between Mate 20 Pro and S10+, I would say that it is a choice based on design tastes, because at the level of performance and rooms things are equal.

Samsung Galaxy S10+ is the best and most mature Samsung so far.
