iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max will receive 120Hz AMPOLED LTPO refresh displays by Samsung

If in some respects Apple with its iPhone launches trends, in others the bitten apple lags behind the competitors in the Android world. Such a case is represented by the display.

While Android flagships already benefit from the screen without cutouts or with fine polka dot-style cutouts, iPhones continue to have the so-called bangs. Same with the refresh rate. There are Android phones with a refresh rate of 165Hz, while iPhones are locked at 60Hz.

Regarding this last aspect, things will change starting this year. It is certain that at least the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max models will receive LTPO AMOLED displays with a refresh rate of 120Hz produced by Samsung Display. We know that Apple is very strict about the quality of the hardware used in its devices, which is why Samsung Display will be the only supplier for such screens (it may be the only one that meets all the criteria imposed by Apple).

We don't have information yet about the cheaper models from the iPhone 13 series, but maybe we will find a screen with at least a 90Hz refresh rate.

According to industry sources, by 2021 it is estimated that Apple will purchase over 110 million screens from Samsung Display, over 50 million screens from LG Display and over 9 million screens from BOE.

PS: Maybe with the iPhone 13 series, the bangs will also disappear.
