How to bring old pictures to life and create a video with the help of Deep Nostalgia

A new artificial intelligence and web application hidden behind Deep Nostalgia have started making waves online lately. This new tool helps you bring your old video images back to life.

Just as Deep Fake technology allows you to put your face on a clip with Michael Jackson or watch an invented speech with Barack Obama, Deep Nostalgia turns the face of a loved one from an old photo into a video clip. Depending on the quality of the original image and the position of the face in the frame, chances are you will get fascinating results, if not a little terrifying. Not the other way around, but it looks like you're bringing to life people who died a few decades ago, if you don't use the image algorithm with your own face.

Deep Nostalgia is accessible at this address and uses an advanced artificial intelligence algorithm to turn your faces from an image into short clips, so that it looks like those characters have come back to life. This is a MyHeritage product and although it seems free at first glance, you have the right to process about 5 photos until you have to pay and, from the start, you have to log in with a Google or Facebook account. If you have multiple Gmail addresses, you can edit about five photos for free with each of them.

You start by selecting an image from your computer, on your PC or Mac. You can also drag it directly into the browser, with the left click pressed. The photo goes through several automatic filters before you can choose the person you want animated, if there are multiple faces in the frame. The conversion process takes 10 to 20 seconds.

Finally, you come to an image that looks like a Live Photo on your iPhone, a 3-4 second clip in which loved ones from your past blink, smile and change their head position.
