How to hide active Instagram status on your phone

Anyone on your Instagram friends list can see when you're on or last active on the platform. The indicator for your activity is visible in the section dedicated to direct messages.

If you don't want anyone to be able to see your status, you'll need to turn off this option in the app's settings menu.

You should know that once the function is deactivated, you will not be able to see the presence of other people either. Disabling this setting also disables the Show when active together option.

So here's what to do to hide your active status, whether you have an Android smartphone or an iPhone:

  1. Touch your profile picture at the bottom right of the screen to access your Instagram profile.
  2. Press the footer on the top right, and then go to the Settings section.
  3. Touch Privacy, then click Presence Visibility.
  4. In this section, tap Show presence to turn off your active status visibility. That way, people on Instagram won't be able to see if you're active or when you were last active on Instagram. You can change the visibility of your status at any time.

How to hide active status on Instagram from laptop / PC

Disabling active status on Instagram can also be done from your laptop or PC. To do this, you need to go through the following steps:

  1. Click on your profile picture in the upper right corner.
  2. Then go to the Settings section.
  3. Click Privacy and security, and then click to clear the box next to Show presence.

How do you hide your Instagram status from a mobile browser?

You can also hide your status on Instagram by accessing www.instagram.com using any browser for your mobile phone.

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Touch your profile picture at the bottom right to access your profile.
