Without a doubt, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G is one of Samsung's best-built phones in recent years. However, accidents still happen.

Having already gone through multiple hardware revisions, Samsung's foldable phones are among the best in the industry, their durability being only slightly behind that of the conventional type, with a screen and a rigid case. However, something unusual happened with a Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G sample accidentally dropped on the ground by an owner named Chad Christian during a bike ride.

Predictably, the incident left marks on the phone's case, with the owner deciding to pack it up and send it back to Samsung for repairs. The battery problem manifested itself some time after the accident, even as the phone was being prepared for shipment by a courier service.

Definitely induced by the shock of the fall, the delayed battery explosion should not occur simply by dropping the phone on the ground. Considering the fact that Galaxy Note7-type incidents, manifested by the spontaneous combustion of batteries, are extremely rare in new generations of Samsung phones, only the variant of a design flaw in the Galaxy Z Fold 3 case remains to be investigated.

In general, very tolerant of mechanical shocks of the type received when the phone hits the asphalt, Li-ion batteries are, however, very sensitive to conditions involving crushing or perforation of the outer shell.

Treating the situation with the utmost seriousness, Samsung announces that it has assigned a dedicated team to investigate the exact circumstances in which this incident occurred. At the same time, the company sent the unlucky owner a pre-addressed box to return the burnt phone in maximum safety, without the risk of burning the car or the courier company's warehouse.
