Prisoners in UK prisons will receive mobile phones.The decision came to the initiative of the Minister of Justice, David Gauke.

The minister claims that the investment worth 7 million pounds will allow convicts to communicate with loved ones, stimulate the rehabilitation and reduce the illegal introduction of mobile phones in penitentiaries.

Gauke's initiative has already been adopted in about 20 prisons, to be implemented in another 20 in the next two years, reports the BBC.

However, there are certain restrictions that prisoners need to meet.Access is restricted, the convicts are allowed to call only certain phone numbers, and the conversations are registered.
