Samsung Galaxy A22 5G review - a stable phone, ready for daily challenges

Time 04/04/2023 By myhoneybakedfeedback

Considered the first A-series phone on which Samsung has integrated 5G technology, the Galaxy A22 5G was launched in June 2021 and comes with a surprising package of components. It incorporates a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor, a Full HD+ TFT screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and a triple main camera. In addition, it incorporates a battery that offers sustained autonomy, for long-term use without worries. Being one of Samsung's budget phones, here are its main features:

DESIGN

In terms of appearance, the Galaxy A22 5G comes with a centrally located front camera, with an elegant V-shaped notch, but the bottom edge of the screen is higher than other models in the same price range. The finish of the sides and the back is made of durable plastic, the back having an elegant and fine design. The main camera is positioned in the upper right corner and surprises with an elegant design, but also with a reduced thickness compared to other models. The unlock and volume buttons are intuitively located on the right side of the phone, while at its base we find a 3.5mm jack, microphone, type C charging jack and speaker slot.

A22 5G is not resistant to water and dust, thus requiring a bit more care in use, especially in capricious weather conditions or in humid environments.

You can accessorize it exactly as you like, with a film and a cover for projection or a pair of bluetooth headphones for your favorite music.

DISPLAY

A22 5G comes with a 6.6-inch TFT screen, the choice being at least surprising for connoisseurs. This screen was probably chosen to balance costs with 5G technology, but its performance is improved by the 90Hz refresh rate and the Full HD+ resolution. When viewed directly from the front, the rendered images and visual effects rise to high standards, but everything changes when the screen is viewed from another angle.

The screen does not come with protection from the factory, so a first step in using it will be the purchase of a protective film, preferably made of glass, to extend its life.

PERFORMANCE

In this chapter, the MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor with 7nm architecture does its job brilliantly when it comes to common applications or games with minimal requirements. Unfortunately, it is not designed for avid gamers, but for those who play occasionally it can be the ideal phone. One thing to note about the Galaxy A22 5G is the intelligent selection of pre-installed applications, much better optimized than in other models.

Samsung promises for this model 2 years of software updates and 3 years of security updates, some of them already requesting to be installed immediately after the phone is turned on for the first time.

As for the sound, the A22 5G maintains its performance if we strictly refer to the volume, but the bass and sound depth are somewhat weaker than in other models. Again, they were probably optimized to be able to incorporate 5G technology in a budget friendly way.

BATTERY AND CHARGING

One of the best parts of the Galaxy A22 5G phone is the 5000 mAh battery, which comes with a well-tuned power saving system. This allows fast charging on 15W, and the charger is included in the box. In the first test, the battery was fully charged in about 95 minutes and provided more than a full day of medium to high usage. Tested both in games and in social media applications or video playback on YouTube and Netflix, the battery exceeded all expectations.

CAMERA

In this chapter there are a series of Pro and Cons arguments that outline the entire photo experience. In terms of good references, the A22 5G incorporates a triple camera with a 48MP S5GKM2 type main sensor, equipped with Samsung's smart algorithms. Photos taken during the day are quite bright, and the color quality is satisfactory.

As negative points, the A22 5G does not take the best photos in low light conditions, especially due to the lack of optical image stabilizer. Even the 5MP ultra-wide sensor does not live up to the highest expectations, as does the front camera sensor, which is only 8MP.

CONCLUSION

Samsung Galaxy A22 5G is an optimal phone for those who need the fastest possible internet speed, but who don't want to focus on specific performance. Although it is not the ideal phone for gaming enthusiasts or photography lovers, it can be the perfect ally for those who need a phone that they can rely on every day.
